At the 1973 74 Goddard High School Awards Assembly three seniors tied as valedictorians with identical GPAs Trena Brown Deborah Garrett and Nancy Jenkins. Salutatorian David Tice placed second. The trio will speak at graduation and have received college scholarships. plans remain undecided.

Alumni honor Col. Orell at NMMI luncheon in Roswell
The New Mexico Military Institute Alumni Association named Col. George Seth Orell its outstanding alumnus of the year at a Roswell luncheon. Orell, Class of 1931, has 49 years with NMMI and retires as chair of the Chemistry Department after serving since 1967. The event included awards for the Class of 1951 memory of Lt. Joseph Govan and honors to rifle team member Paul W. Seyfriend, with scholarships announced for cadets Randall Willard and Scott Blake. A plaque also recognized Mrs. Norma Glover for her late husband Homer Glover’s service on the Board of Regents.
