Avalanche on Zugspitze Kills Dozens and Traps Many
A spring avalanche on Mt Zugspitze near Garmisch Partenkirchen buried a mountain hotel and slopes. As many as 40 feared dead, 11 bodies recovered by nightfall, 25 to 30 still missing. Chaves County Club Lamb Sale Nets $2800 in Roswell
Buyers from West Texas and New Mexico attended the Chaves County Club Lamb Sale at the Eastern New Mexico State Fairgrounds in Roswell. They purchased 121 lambs for about $2,800, averaging $22 with a top price of $80. The top lamb was sold by Kunkel Brothers of Dexter to Hatch FFA.
