The Military Institute defeated Paso 8 to 1 at Amusement Park in a game highlighted by one costly seventh inning error by Paso and strong pitching by Gallagher. Hester yielded eight scattered hits but stout defense kept most runs off the board. Rokahr closed with solid eighth inning work. Gallaher and Hester combined for eight strikeouts as El Paso fielding committed multiple miscues.

Mexican Central Freight 142 Cars Hindered by Yard Congestion

Mexican Central has 142 cars of commercial freight ready to transfer to Santa Fe since Saturday. The Santa Fe yardmaster refuses to receive until Central clears export transfers. He says cars intended for American shipments were ready first. Freight flow is increasing and congesting both lines as traffic remains unusually heavy.

Baseball Melee Sparks Street Fight Near College Street

A Sunday brawl after a Santa Fe baseball game led to a free for all on College Street. Charles Barnes a Palace hotel porter was singled out and fought back with a baseball bat. City Marshal Hughes arrested Barnes and three others, who faced a magistrate on Monday morning.

Trainmen to gain wage increases on roads

El Paso News reports conductor W H Stockwell returned from Houston where railroad officials finalized a new wage scale for trainmen. Stockwell says increases were granted but exact amounts will be announced later. He plans to attend the Order of Railway Conductors national convention in Memphis on the 14th and will then secure the precise figures in Houston.

Man who tried to kill ex wife dies by own hand

Wichita Kansas May 11 W R Fulton who last night attempted to kill his former wife committed suicide early today. His body was found in the railroad yards four blocks from where he shot her three times. The woman is not dangerously injured. A crowd pursued Fulton after the shooting but he escaped the mob.

Roswell Lawyer Indicted for Fraud Escapes Custody

In Alamogordo New Mexico on May 9 James Hunter notified police about a suspicious man named J L Johnson seen at the Hunter ranch 30 miles west of town.
