July 1 Said To Be New Date For The Army Registration

Washington officials announced July 1 as the registration date for about 1,000,000 men who turned 21 since the previous selective service enrollment last October. The process will be at 6,500 local draft boards and may be simpler than last fall’s mass registration of 16.5 million men. President Roosevelt will formally fix the date in a proclamation. Officials expect many registrants to be called for training within months, with plans to use the new pool promptly.
