James W. Johnson, 36, a Lakeville contractor charged in the March 15 abduction of Eunice Kronholm, was shot in the head on a highway south of the Twin Cities. Investigators reported no motive or suspects. Kronholm, 46, wife of Gunnar Kronholm, president of Drovers State Bank, was held about 80 hours before being released after ransom. Johnson faces federal extortion and state kidnapping charges and is free on bond.
