Lunar Orbiter 4 locked to star Canopus for guidance and stayed on its 89 hour 254 519 mile mission to map 96 percent of the moon. A midcourse maneuver at JPL corrected its path, aiming 1 680 miles south of the moon. the craft will cover 98 percent of the near side and much of the far side with 200 foot resolution imagery.

The renegotiated national pact for 500000 truck drivers was approved amid reports of Teamsters control shifting locally from national leadership.
