Eight Horses Trample Man At His Farm

Mark Caraway of 1407 S Lea was trampled by eight horses on his E 19th Street farm while trying to pen them. He suffered multiple injuries including several broken ribs and head and facial injuries. he was hospitalized at St Mary’s and listed as doing well the next morning.

Southeast New Mexico Regional Science Fair at NMMI Opens

The ninth annual fair runs Saturday at Carhoon Armory on the New Mexico Military Institute campus with about 95 entries from seven counties. Winners advance to the state event in Socorro and two seniors earn trips to the International Science Fair in Detroit.

Roswell Youth Delegation Prepares for Santa Fe Model Legislature

Roswell's group of 20 youths and advisers heads to Santa Fe for the 1968 YMCA Youth and Government Model Legislature running through Saturday. Under leaders Bob Baldock Mary Lou Wilson and Hazel Wilkins they will learn democracy by drafting and debating bills with Gov. David Cargo to speak at a joint session. The trip includes a youth governor banquet and ball with Roswell returning home late Saturday night.

The Defense Department reports one F111A fighter bomber missing on a mission over Southeast Asia after departing from Ta Khli Thailand. Senate Rejects Additional Funds for F111B Program

March Led by King Sparks Violent Memphis Protest

In Memphis hundreds of protesters led by Martin Luther King Jr clash with police causing looting and shattered windows on Beale and Main Streets. Police use teargas and shotguns as officers push the crowd away. King attended after flying from New York.
