Albuquerque Lawyer to Testify in Norvell Extortion Trial

Federal prosecutors disclose a plan to call William Marchiondo as a witness in the David Norvell extortion case. They cite an $8,380.28 check paid by Marchiondo’s firm to Norvell in 1972 and say Norvell did not report it as income. Trial set for June 14 in Albuquerque.

Postal Service loses urn from Arlington burial shipment

The Postal Service lost the cremated remains of Bertram E. Williams sent to Arlington National Cemetery. The damaged urn package arrived empty. the cemetery has not interred him. Water rights of Mescalero Apache Tribe heads to state courts

The U S Supreme Court ruling in Colorado confirmed state court jurisdiction for Indian water rights, aligning with the New Mexico Supreme Court decision. Southeastern New Mexico Regional Science Fair Returns Saturday

The 17th annual science and engineering fair opens Saturday at Cahoon Armory on the New Mexico Military Institute campus. Public viewing is from 3 30 to 6 p m with winners announced at 6 p m. Area rancher to seek office in state senate bid

Sam A. Moorehead a 50 year old rancher northeast of Roswell announced his candidacy for state senate District 31 covering Chaves and Roosevelt counties subject to the June 1 Republican primary. He vows fiscal conservatism and wants better funding for schools and highways. Moorehead has led in cattle groups and serves as livestock advisor to the Roswell district Bureau of Land Management. He and his wife Christine have three children Sam Jerry and Sandra all educated in Roswell.
