Stocks opened with wild fluctuations as prices rose and fell on the first trading moments. Amalgamated Copper, Steel, Hartman and Hill led losses while some issues recovered slightly, closing near the day’s low amid irregular activity.
London reports quote from Rothschild denying panic in the city. He states troubles are only imagined and exchange settlement would not be in trouble. He asserts there is no panic in London and none feared here despite other reports of a big financial strain.
A morning collision outside Dover harbor involved the steamer Princess Henriette from Ostend and the steamer Lord Warden from Calais. The Henriette struck the Lord Warden, causing a hole below the water line and damage to cabins and deck work. all sixty passengers aboard the Lord Warden were landed unharmed.
Senate holds report from acting Secretary of War confirms Major Penrose exonerated but finds Brownsville incident carried out by men of the 2nd Infantry. Telegram from General McCaskey documents a court finding of the Texas shooting.
In Boston area a potential strike involves 6000 team drivers as General Teamsters Union No. 12 officials gain full authority. The dispute stems from Master Team Drivers refusing to sign a 1907 1908 working agreement proposed by the Team Drivers Union.
Washington March 25 a committee of New York clergymen visited the White House to urge the president to curb religious decline and stop New York from becoming a nest of infidels agnostics and atheists. Dr Donald Sage McKay said Roosevelt supported the shop meeting campaign and urged continuation of workshops to rouse the lower classes.
St Louis Colie club opens its ninth annual beach show with a record entry from the Central West. Dr M D MacNab, renowned collie expert, serves as judge as medals and premiums attract many exhibitors. The show will close to narrow.

Charges from a Washington inspector accuse the Probate Judge and townsite board of fraud in patent proof issued by the General Land Office March 31 1902.
Memphis Tennessee March 25 contractors and builders from across the state gathered by invitation of the Memphis Builders' Exchange to organize a state association of builders' exchanges. The organization will be completed at a session this evening followed by a banquet.
Plans to merge several long distance lines into a major independent company were unveiled at the annual meeting. United States Telephone, led by chief stock holder James A. Brailey of Toledo, lists Pittsburgh and Allegheny, Chicago's New Independent, and Kinloch systems in Missouri and Kansas as participants. The proposed network would link Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Chicago, St Louis, and Kansas City.
New York horsemen travel to Washington for the Benning's season opener. Tickle, Pater, Anna Smith, Quadrille, Orphan Lad and Reidmore are top Bennings bets with Tickle in strong form and favored by bettors.
In Wiesbaden on Jar 20 Prof. Von Bergmann, renowned surgeon, died after an appendicitis operation yesterday. The death ends a career notable for pioneering abdominal surgery and medical teaching.

Wool market at St Louis steady. territory and western mediums 24 28, fine medium 18 21, fine 14 17.
Citizens living south of Roswell protest farmers six to twelve miles south of town who close section line roads and install gates. Travelers must alight at every mile to open and close gates. A delegation plans to present views at the next county commissioners meeting on the first Monday in April.
The Military Institute first base ball team defeated the Roswell Mexicans 4 to 2 on the Institute grounds with Crowell pitching until late in the game when he moved to catcher after Lohman injured his hand. In a morning game the Roswell Cubs beat the Institute Cubs 16 to 12 led by Harry Nelson with two home runs.

One mule outfit found Friday near Salt Creek north of Roswell remains ownerless. Cowboys recovered the rig and officers believe the owner is the brother-in-law of Mr. Garner, a sheep breeder, but the name is not known.
A business crowd gathered Sunday afternoon for the Philharmonic Band’s initial concert in the court house square. The music was of the highest order and pleasing to all. The band is in splendid condition and more concerts are hoped for by music lovers.

Greer left Marion Kansas after buying four year old steers. L. J. Destree signed a brick contract for Edwards bank building after returning from Lake Arthur.
R. L. Evans and Miss Lou Harvey arrived today from Fort Worth on business.
Will Parsons of Morris and T. E. Parsons of Abilene Kan arrived this morning from the South to spend several days. W. J. McInnes and wife came up from Lake Arthur today to buy furniture.
