Runnels Undergoes Cryosurgical Regimen for Spine Cancer
Rep. Harold Runnels of New Mexico, 55, underwent a two hour operation at Memorial Sloan Kettering to treat a malignant tumor in his lower left back using cryosurgery with liquid nitrogen. Begin urges Knesset to approve Egypt peace plan
United Press International reports Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin urged the Knesset to approve the Egypt peace treaty. He warned Cairo not to expect Israel to permit a Palestinian state. Egypt condemned the move as corrupting the peace atmosphere during Begin’s two hour keynote.

Missing RCC inmate shot in Roswell room
Roach Donald Lee 22 of Hager man was admitted to Bernalillo County Medical Center then flown to Albuquerque in critical condition after a bullet wound to the right temple. He had been an inmate at the Roswell Correctional Center since 1978 serving two sentences for writing worthless checks and fraudulent use of a credit card.
