Oilfield explosion in Lea County kills worker near Jal
An oilfield blast west of Jal killed 36 year old James Rusty Harrison and injured coworker Tyler Winter. Harrison died from shrapnel injuries at the scene while Winter was airlifted to Lubbock for torso and leg injuries. They worked for Warrior Wireline at a Mesquite SWD site.

Police responded to a criminal damage call on North Union Avenue damaging an 800 window and 400 glass door. Richard Gonzales 53 of Roswell was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia on East Hendricks Street. A stolen cellphone valued at 110 was reported on North Washington Avenue. Matthew Sifuentes 30 of Roswell was arrested for failure to appear on North Virginia Avenue.
