Chance Butler 16 of Pampa Texas was extradited to Chaves County to face probation revocation after absconding from supervision following a Fifth Judicial District Court plea of no contest to aggravated assault. The victim’s father said he is relieved Butler has been arrested and began serving time.

Senate okays Pirtle DST bill to stay on daylight time
The New Mexico Senate approved a bill 28 to 10 to keep Mountain Daylight Time year round. Sen. Cliff Pirtle, a Roswell farmer, calls clock changes an unnecessary inconvenience and says the move affects all citizens amid a national DST shift discussion. He noted 14 states consider the change and Arizona and Hawaii do not observe DST. The measure would require federal approval to reverse DST.

Reckless Driving Case Set for Trial in Artesia
Jonathan Caraveo a 27 year old Artesia man faces a jury trial August 18 in Roswell before Judge Freddie J Romero for a three vehicle collision on North Main Street. A pre trial hearing is August 13. He is charged with great bodily injury by vehicle a third degree felony and no proof of insurance a misdemeanor. A third charge was dropped. He pleaded not guilty February 13.
