William Benton longtime publisher and chairman of Encyclopedia Britannica died at his New York City apartment on Sunday from a cardiac arrest his aide said. He was 73.
U S Navy Lt. (j g) David Eisenhower, son in law of President Nixon, will be discharged in about two weeks. He plans to pursue public affairs or journalism and may undertake a major writing project about his grandfather, Dwight D. Eisenhower. He said two and a half years in the Navy left him restless.
Danish born Lauritz Melchior a leading Wagnerian tenor of the Golden Age died Sunday in a Santa Monica hospital from complications after gall bladder surgery. He would have turned 83 on Tuesday and left the New York Metropolitan Opera in 1950.
