Charter history of Roswell power firms through 1942
The Roswell power companies trace back to a 1906 charter led by William Atkinson with N. J. Fritz and Thomas D. White on the Chaves County Commission. The Roswell Electric Co. began the line, followed by Roswell Public Service Co. in 1921 and Southwestern Public Service Co. in 1926. The current company structure dates to 1942, with copies of the original charters preserved in Amarillo and Roswell offices. Rex Brown, SWPSC manager, noted the 1906 charter details.
