Four Die In Plane Crash Near Ruidoso New Mexico

Federal aviation officials opened a crash investigation after a single engine Bonanza went down near Alto three miles east of the Eagle Lakes in Lincoln County. Four people from Kermit Texas, Mr and Mrs E J Wallace and Mr and Mrs Joe C Potter, died at the scene. Two teenage boys helping battle a forest fire found the wreckage which burned about two acres. The time of the crash was put at 1 30 pm by a local resident who saw smoke.

Roswell Weather Sets And Ties Records In Seven Days

The Roswell weather bureau reports seven days of temperature records with two low-temperature records broken and two tied, including a March 8 low of 12 degrees surpassing the 14-degree mark from 1920 and a March 11 high of 82 degrees tying a date record from 1907. A 88-degree high on March 11 tied the March 12, 1900 record, and the March 9 low of 16 degrees set a new date record.
