Citizens Ticket sweeps Roswell election with record turnout
Mayor elect L. C. Stiles led the Citizens Ticket to a landslide win as 9,901 citizens voted. Virginia Whalen and Blanche Stephens become Roswell’s first women on the City Council alongside John Perry Paul Taylor Jr. and Carl Engwall as new council members. Howard E. Babcock Jr. defeats incumbent Earl Tankersley for municipal judge with 3,967 votes. Tankersley 2,477. Other totals: Graves 1,514 Williams 1,110 Reilly 350.
