Fruit Growers Freight Rates Raised in Pecos Valley

Fruit growers in the Pecos valley were informed by Claude Simpson secretary of the Chamber of Commerce that new freight rates for fruits melons and vegetables exceed the former charges. The rate for apples from Roswell Artesia and Carlsbad to New Mexico and Texas rises from 2 1 4 to 3 8 5 cents per 100 pounds and becomes effective February 29. Other fresh produce rates to Texas generally increase.

Bomb destroys part of Zurich consulate

Washington dispatch reports the American consulate in Zurich Switzerland was partly destroyed by a bombing last night. Police blamed anarchists. no injuries were reported. State Department advisory has been received.
