Hundred percent subscriptions are reported as the campaign advances in Roswell. Early 100 percent firms include Roswell Typewriter Co and First National Bank, with total funds at 6,211 toward a 17,246 goal. Women's division to begin Friday at Nickson Hotel with breakfast and instructions before territory assignment.

The U S attorney s office filed a 30 count criminal information charging Veterans Purchasing Corp Joplin Mo with not reporting cigarette shipments supposedly sent to New Mexico residents The information alleged the Missouri firm illegally sent cigarettes to nine New Mexico cities including Albuquerque Santa Fe Carlsbad Las Cruces and Hobbs.

Pereira and Brading Nabbed by FBI on Warrants

Victor E. Pereira and Eugene H. Brading were arrested by FBI agents in Baltimore and New York on bench warrants from El Paso Texas. Judge R. E. Thomason ordered them to begin 12 year sentences for defrauding Roswell widow Gertrude Joyce of 48243 in 1951.

Adelaide was rocked by a second earthquake in three days with tremors affecting homes between the hills and the sea. No damage reported though earlier quake caused masonry topple and wall collapses with thousands of dollars in losses. Queen Elizabeth II is set to visit on March 18.

Worst Snowstorm Strands Chicago in Record Snowfall
