Ruidoso Mayor Lynn Crawford announced that all people reported missing during evacuations for the South Fork and Salt fires have been located. Over 80 were unaccounted for at first, but eight remained missing by Tuesday as some went to shelters or left without notifying loved ones.
Pedro Jose Prieto, 53, of Atwater California, is jailed after a night chase in which he rammed a pickup into two police vehicles and a civilian car. The pursuit ended when Prieto drove up a dirt hill and surrendered with hands raised. He refused to provide identifying information. The incident began on Old Dexter Highway around 10 23 p.m. Saturday.
Roswell County commissioners approved a Waide Construction bid of 6.867 million dollars plus gross receipts tax for a new 12,000 square foot Roswell Public Health Office on four county acres at 1601 S Garden Ave across from Pecos Elementary. The facility will include a pharmacy laboratory immunizations and WIC services with completion in 12 to 18 months.
