Roosevelt Signs and Vetos Bills at End of Session

Washington June 27 AP President Roosevelt signed into law several dozen bills and vetoed 31 as he cleared his desk before leaving for Hawaii. A key measure creates a federal credit union system for small-earners while major session bills like railway worker pensions remained unsigned. The vetoed private relief measures included one for Marine Band attendance at a veterans convention. He cited scope concerns and noted other bills cut postal furloughs. Also signed were taxes on firearms, refinements to the agricultural adjustment act, and Pueblo land sales to San Diego. The credit union bill defines cooperative national charters with loans capped at 200 dollars or ten percent of capital, whichever is larger, and 50 dollars without endorsement.
