Orders from the Adjutant General of the Army allow corps area commanders to accept 16 year olds who will be 17 within 1923 for CMTC Basic Red Course. The War Department maintains 17 as the normal minimum, but exceptional 17th year applicants may be admitted if they show physique and character.
