President Harding Honored by Kansas Farmers in Hutchinson

President Harding was greeted with a great ovation by Kansas farmers in Hutchinson as he arrived from Kansas City. He plans to wear overalls and straw hat to run a binder in a wheat field, then have the harvested grain processed and used to bake bread for Mrs. Harding. In a speech he proposed railroad consolidation and a law barring railway strikes until arbitration, while omitting any railroad rate cut for agriculture.

Hearing on receivership of the Ku Klux Klan in Atlanta

In Atlanta on June 23 the hearing for a receivership petition against the Ku Klux Klan is scheduled for Friday June 29 in the superior court. Petitioners led by David Rittenhouse of Philadelphia allege mismanagement by Emperor J J Simmons Imperial Wizard Evans and twenty other Klan officers.

Texas Auto Licenses Five Months End May 1928

Dallas county led vehicle registrations with 41,073 in the five months ending May 9 1928. Harris county was second at 36,092 while Tarrant McLennan Jefferson Travis and Galveston counties followed in the tally. The total registrations reached 555,642, up from 437,168 in 1922, an increase of 116,374.

Youth shot during burglary attempt in Waxahachie
