Residents push for on road use of off highway vehicles in Chaves County
Local resident Randy Robertson advocates city and county ordinances to allow recreational off-road vehicles on select paved roads. A July 1 state law and 2016 legislation empower local governments to permit OHV use on non high speed roads within cities or counties, excluding highways or limited access routes. Robertson, longtime Hanson Operation Co. worker and off road enthusiast, says the move could benefit Chaves County as talks continue.
