High court rules raisin program unconstitutional
The Supreme Court in an 8 to 1 decision held the 66 year old raisin control program an illegal taking of private property. Chief Justice Roberts wrote that just compensation is required when the government takes goods and rejected the Homes claim that voluntary participation excuses the program.
