The Phoenix case of a resident denied a vote due to no real property ownership led to a ruling aligning with earlier bans on restricted voting in school district and revenue bond elections. The decision applies prospectively only and does not retroactively affect prior cases.
In a letter to Commerce Secretary, Senator Montoya cites an “incredible haphazard enumeration” and urges a new census in Espanola and surrounding areas. He notes 110 households and 4 uncounted residents, and claims Santa Fe counts show over 1,000 residents missed by the 1970 census.
