Four Killed In Weekend Road Crashes
Four people died in four separate weekend automobile accidents raising New Mexico’s 1961 highway toll to 142. Mark Ettings, 22, of Clovis died after colliding with a car while riding a street. Hurst R. Julian, 59, of San Rafael was killed on State Road 53 near Grants when his car crossed the center line and struck Bandelro Lopez Sr., who was hospitalized. Mary Charlotte Ann Dwyer, 20, of Albuquerque died when her car went out of control on a Taos State Road 150 curve. Two Air Force men from Amarillo were hospitalized after a Sunday crash. Benny Martinez, 21, of Chimayo died when his car hit a parked vehicle after spinning out near Espanola. Dorotea Cruz, 22, of Chimayo, had stopped to fix a flat and was uninjured. Last year at this time 174 had died on New Mexico highways.

Stratojet Blows Apart in Flight
A B47 Stratojet bomber on a local training flight exploded and burned near Lincoln Nebraska on Sunday, killing three crewmen. A fourth crewman survived with no serious injuries. Dead are Capt. Albert Marinich Capt. Allan H. Matson and Capt. Russell Holst. Survivor is Lt. Thomas T. Wesner. The aircraft belonged to the 424th Bomb Squadron, 307th Bomb Wing at the base.
