Reports from Portland claim about eighty anarchists meet northeast of the city and discuss assassination of President Roosevelt. Separately Congress debates meat inspection provisions and appropriations while San Francisco aid plans and railroad coal probes proceed in Washington.
Officials accuse suspects of conspiring to assassinate the president, leading to arrests and a mounting investigation. Authorities described the plot as aimed at the highest office, with details emerging about the alleged conspirators and their alleged intentions.
The assembly passes an amendment to the Agricultural Appropriation Bill while noting $50,000 for the President's Traveling Expenses. Reports from Bialystok Russia describe a Jewish massacre spurring nationwide uproar and ongoing looting, with a separate incident of arms robbery and social unrest in St. Petersburg. A rumored assassination attempt on General Trepoff circulated but was denied by police.

Roswell woke to news of the death of Mrs. G. W. Read at her residence on North Richardson. She had been ill for four weeks prior to death.
Emancipation Day events unfold in Roswell with a basket dinner at the Fair Grounds and a ball game between negroes and Mexicans on the Institute Diamond. Purity Flour invites attendance at the office of F. J. Beck on Saturday June 28 at 2 30 p m to organize a Missouri Club.
