Thief fails in stickup Saturday at Allsup's store
A Spanish male attempted a holdup at Allsup's Convenience Store at 1:25 a.m. Saturday. He threatened the clerk with a silver weapon that may have misfired or been fake, fled when a customer entered, and no money was taken. Police continue the investigation. Two stolen cars were recovered nearby: a 1962 Chevy pickup stolen from the Flamingo Bar and found behind the Sears warehouse with damage and missing parts, and a 1978 Mercury Cougar recovered intact on East 19th Street after maintenance at Durham Lincoln Mercury.
