Tornado Capsizes Dinner Boat Killing Six at Pomona Lake
A tornado capsized the Whippoorwill showboat near Pomona Lake Osage County killing six women and injuring 14 others. About 46 passengers and 13 crew were aboard with 800 to 900 campers nearby. Rescue efforts used bulldozers and cables to right and pull the vessel to shore as authorities reported several bodies recovered and more missing. Strong winds and hail battered the Midwest with additional tornadoes and floods across Iowa Illinois Wisconsin and Texas.

Odorous fur theft trial ends with hung jury in Kansas
In Lawrence Kansas three men faced trial in Douglas County District Court for stealing 8000 dollars worth of raw pelts from a fur dealer. The mouldering coyote raccoon and muskrat pelts, presented as State evidence, created an odor so strong jurors were allowed to remove them from the deliberation room. After 32 hours the jury could not reach a verdict and the prosecutor said the cases would be retried with the same evidence.
