Man shoots charging bear near Capitan while antler hunting
A 5 year old Capitan man shot a charging black bear at about 10 yards while searching for shed antlers in Lincoln National Forest between Capitan and Carrizozo. The bear was later recovered and no cubs were found. A separate bear attack near Forest Road 57 left a man injured but treated and released.
