Lie Tests In Hunt For Baby Slayer

Authorities used lie-detector tests in the Clyde area to trace the abduction of 10-week-old Haldon Fink, whose body was found in a creek twelve hours after the theft from the Oran Baker home. Fingerprints on the door knob were absent. at least 10 relatives including the baby's mother Velma Baker Fink and father Irvin are to be tested.

New Mexico PWA work since creation six years ago totals 34,700,332 dollars, regional director G M Bull said. During the period 295 projects received allotments with every county involved. 97 were non federal built by state and local entities costing 11,752,564 dollars, while federal projects totaled 22,947,768 dollars.

County property inventory urged by taxpayers group

Two Charged With Having Marihuana

Harlan McIntorf and M. D. Lavall are charged with possession of marihuana in a J P court complaint. A quart jar of finely ground marihuana was alleged. Lavall pleaded not guilty. preliminary hearing date not set. Bond set at $1,000. McInturf pleaded guilty and was bound over to district court under $1,000 bond.

Mrs. Martens Heads Roswell Republican Club

Mrs. John C. Martens was elected president of the Roswell Republican Women's Club at a regular meeting at Mrs. B C Mossman's home. Mary Mossman became 1st vice president, T N Burnett 2nd vice president, Cort Marley 3rd vice president, Charlotte Nicholas recording secretary, George Zink corresponding secretary, and Lyman Sanders treasurer. The club reported 53 paid members and voted to suspend July and August meetings while inviting all to executive board luncheons at Herring Cafeteria on the third Thursday each month.

Ruidoso Fire Held At Line Near Cedar Creek

A forest fire near Ruidoso held at Cedar Creek Road with 300 men keeping the line. The blaze burned 800 to 1000 acres yesterday, but officials say it is under control and not spreading. No cabins were damaged and many residents left cabins yesterday afternoon and this morning. The main fire area is around Alto Hill about four miles northwest of Ruidoso as winds shifted away from the canyon.

Fires Rage Across New Mexico Forest Fronts

About 2,000 firefighters battled blazes across four fronts in New Mexico, with Gallinas Canyon the largest fire under some control after burning about 3,000 acres. Carson National Forest and Lincoln National Forest fires ranged from 500 to 800 acres, with crews including CCC enrollees and WPA workers assisting and TWA pilots relaying reports to Forest Service officials.

French Submarine Phenix Missing After Dive Near Cam Ranh

Paris reports navy ministry saying submarine Phenix with four officers and 59 men aboard failed to reappear after a June 15 dive off Cam Ranh Bay in French Indochina.
