Kaymer Opens U S Open lead with 130 after 36 holes
Martin Kaymer shot 65 on Friday to set the 36 hole record at 10 under and reach the final grouping at Pinehurst No. 2. Erik Compton, a two time heart transplant recipient, carded 67 to stay within reach at 3 under as Dustin Johnson and Henrik Stenson trailed by two. Kaymer warned of a tough Sunday and sought a steady, ball striking round rather than a pure putting duel.
