Three dogs maul 9 year old in Chaves County
A 99 year old Chaves County boy was hospitalized after being mauled by three pit bull mix dogs early Wednesday. Two dogs were shot by the boy's father, one was killed, another wounded and later euthanized. The two remaining dogs are quarantined for rabies observation. The attack occurred at a kennel run by Doggy Saviors at 5196 Vista Lane. The boy, son of a Roswell police detective, was airlifted to Lubbock for care. Mayor Dennis Kintigh commented on the situation, noting concerns about the dogs being rescued from the pound.

Gabriel Casaus of LaGrone Funeral Chapel urged Roswell Kiwanis to consider funeral pre planning. He noted plans are transferable and often offered in three, five, or seven year terms, with upfront payment avoiding age limits. Typical costs reach seven to ten thousand dollars and many rely on life insurance that may not fully cover expenses.
