Labor Chiefs Warn Labor To Target Congress Next Elections

Cincinnati June 12 The American Federation of Labor reports bitter attacks on Congress and anti labor forces. It calls for aggressive future action, opposes sales tax and subsidies, pushes for labor-friendly reforms, and vows to oppose many current lawmakers in the coming primaries and elections. It denounces court rulings on child labor and injunctions, urges a national labor board and new employment services, and outlines a broad program of constructive labor activism.

Earthquake Shocks Recorded at Marquette Seismograph

Milwaukee reports two shocks at 12 55 am lasting forty five minutes and one at six am lasting eight minutes. Estimated to be two thousand miles southwest the shocks are noted as part of a broader discussion on industrial morality and the courts. A call goes out to restore good faith and avoid anti strike injunctions, urging public conscience to oppose encroachments on rights and liberties. The text condemns the Worisas Industrial Court and Kansas law as failing to compel work when workers choose otherwise.

Tornado Toll Tops Fifty Dead in New York

A rare New York tornado left fifty dead and about a hundred injured as it struck City Island and the surrounding Sound Island area. Telegraph lines cut between Syracuse and Troy. City Island saw the heaviest losses with up to thirty fatalities. In New York City six died and twenty seven were injured when the Clason Point Ferris wheel collapsed.

Cyclone hits Buckeye Lake resort. three dead

Columbus report says a tornado struck Buckeye Lake resort killing three and injuring more than twenty. Rescue parties search the waters for victims while five pleasure craft remain missing and over fifty cottages are destroyed.

Democrats of Texas Meet in Austin Today

In Austin on June 12 the State Democratic executive committee met to decide which candidates go on the July 22 primary ballot. Chairman Frank C. Davis and J. W. Mexican train dynamited by Mexican bandits near Nogales

Mexican bandits dynamited a train on the Mexican Southern railroad near Tomelín in Puebla state, killing five military escort members and wounding several others. They looted sixty thousand pesos in gold. A passenger train was held up and plundered at the wreckage, six guard members were killed, and the attackers fled into the mountains led by Juan Ramirez, Reyes Gil and Lorenzo Alvares.

Railroad Workers Face Third 50 Million Dollar Cut

Chicago June 12 The railroad labor board will announce a third 50 million dollar pay cut this week affecting clerks signalmen truckers and freight handlers. Roswell Plans Welcoming Day For Amarillo Visitors

The Roswell Chamber of Commerce outlined plans to greet Amarillo business men arriving by a special train Wednesday at 4 PM. A reception committee will meet the train, a district march with band may occur, and a 5:30 PM city ride by car is planned. Dinner at the Gilder follows at 7. A Chamber smoker and Flag Day dance at the Elks are also on the agenda with further details to come.
