Washington June 10 Western senators rally support for a soldier bonus bill urging early Senate action. The bloc of seventeen back the measure after a McNary amendment adding 350 million dollars for the reclamation project, pledging united backing for swift consideration.
In Houston on June 10 the jury deliberating the case of oil expert S. E. J. Cox charged with using the mails to defraud failed to agree. Federal Judge Hutchinson sent them back to continue and adjourned court until Monday morning. Washington June 10 The formation of the United States Grain Growers Sales Corporation, a subsidiary of the United States Grain Growers Association, to handle the sale of grain for farmers, is announced.
Curtis Lee Jernigan has been declared bankrupt with assets listed at 91000 and liabilities at 114000. Major creditors include First National Bank of Carlsbad First National Bank and First State Bank Trust Co. Of this city, the first meeting of creditors is scheduled for June 23 at 10 o'clock in the office of referee R. M. Parsons.

Bob Fletcher announces his candidacy for county treasurer of Chaves County after military service and business experience in Roswell. He urges voter support for a fair efficient campaign and plans to meet residents across the county before the June 20 election.
Washington June 10 Senator La Follette Wisconsin says prompt action by the senate sub committee on manufactures is promised in the gasoline price inquiry. A large list of witnesses from the gas and oil industry is tentatively selected to testify. The exhaustive inquiry will likely extend over several weeks.
June 10 Kansas City Fred Roberts, named as the underworld king, was shot and killed by Officer Dan Ahern after a coffee store robbery. Police recovered about two thousand dollars from Roberts' pockets, linking the loot to the crime.
Washington June 10 The naval appropriations bill was introduced in the senate seeking an increase of about 45 million dollars over the house figures. The bill carries an appropriation of 294,235,244 dollars.
R D Bell running for county commissioner in district 1 cites 20 years in Roswell, prior service as city alderman justice of the peace and water and sewer commissioner. Other offices listed include Assessor G Hanna W M Atkinson County Clerk Grace S Massie Sheriff John C Peck Superintendent Mrs T E Whitney C G Hill State Legislature Edgar Puryear Donovan M Richardson Byron O Beal Judson G Osburn Surveyor Lea Rowland and several county commissioners and probate judge candidates.
