City explains planned infrastructure upgrades for 2018 2019

Roswell city officials detailed two color coded graphics showing planned projects around the city for the 2018 2019 fiscal year at a May special meeting and May 29 infrastructure committee. City Manager Joe Neeb said budget pressures complicate even distribution of work across all areas while Planning Manager Bill Morris outlined the ICIP ending in 2024 and a five year state funding request of 216000000.

Bomb scare briefly closes part of Main Street

Roswell police and fire departments closed North Main Street between Fifth and Sixth streets and evacuated nearby buildings after a suspicious luggage item found at Pecos Trails Transit bus terminal prompted a bomb threat scare. Investigators concluded the item was not an explosive and lifted the closure by about 4:30 p.m.

County Hears Plan to Ease Industrial Zoning Decisions

Chaves County considers a new Article 13 ordinance to require planning commission and board review for industrial property use changes. Planning director Marlin Johnson led the proposal at a Tuesday zoning meeting, and the commission approved 3-0, with a June 21 board consideration ahead. A similar change may go before the ETZ Commission and ETZ Authority for areas near city limits.
