Atto. Stephen Durkovich of Santa Fe outlined duties of boards of county commissioners for adopting subdivision regulations under a state mandate. Jeff Ringler of the New Mexico State Highway Department joined other state officials addressing county officials from five counties at a hearing held at the Southeastern New Mexico Economic Development District offices in the Roswell Industrial Air Center.

Death marks loss of Rep Eugene Cinelli in New Mexico politics
New Mexico Governor Bruce King mourned Representative Eugene Cinelli as a dear friend after Cinelli died of a heart attack at the Hilton Inn in Albuquerque. At 41, he would have turned 42 this Saturday leaving widow Adele and two daughters Arlene and Martha. The Bernalillo County legislator was a key figure on the Legislative Finance Committee and led the interim Tax Study Committee. He had just begun his third term and had proposed narcotics treatment centers and property tax reforms. Survivors include his wife and two daughters. The forecast for Roswell and vicinity noted highs near 92 and a high of 96 expected for Thursday.
