Outdoor Adventure Day draws youth to Spring River Park
More than 350 pounds of catfish were stock ed this week at the Spring River Park and Zoo pond to give area youth a chance to catch. About 200 people were expected for Outdoor Adventure Day Saturday. Corp. Tyson Sanders of the New Mexico Game and Fish Department said the event, sponsored with the Sunrise Optimist Club and Roswell fire and police, aims to get kids outdoors through fishing archery pellet guns or an off highway vehicle simulator. Prizes worth over 2700 dollars were expected to be awarded.

Alleged shooter Mazac arrested in Roswell
Roswell police arrested Tyler C. Mazac 24 of West McGaffey Street on a warrant tied to a May 27 shooting on North Maple Street. Mazac was spotted at 7 p.m. fleeing toward an apartment and was quickly detained. He is held on a $10,000 cash bond for aggravated battery and a $500 bond for marijuana possession. The wounded 33 year old victim was treated at a Roswell hospital and later at another facility. his current condition is unknown.
