Graduation Ceremonies At NMMI Tuesday

Graduation ceremonies at New Mexico Military Institute will begin at 8 15 tomorrow on the Headquarters building lawn completing the 42nd annual commencement. Governor Miles will deliver diplomas to 118 cadets, the largest class in school history, with Colonel Thompson delivering the address and Cadet Kronauer giving the valedictory.

A large crowd watched the N M M S commencement horseshow at the polo field this morning. U. S. Army to field 3000 tanks and 3000 planes

Washington reports Defense estimates before House committee call for more than 1600 tanks and 3000 additional aircraft as part of Roosevelt plans. The program envisions 3000 tanks of various types and heavy munitions facilities, plus new 105 mm howitzers and anti aircraft gear.

Robinson Back At Institute In El Paso ROTC Transfer

William L. Robinson has been moved back to the Institute after a January transfer to ROTC units at El Paso high schools. Health Director Resigns as New Mexico Eyes Candidate Pool

Santa Fe June 3. Dr E B Godfrey resigned as state health director effective June 30 after illness and convalescence in El Paso. The New Mexico Board of Health planned a Wednesday meeting but will delay action until a suitable successor is found. Possible contenders include Dr C H Douthitt and Dr John C Mitchell, with outside candidates also contemplated to avoid friction.

Few British Left Behind in Flanders

A British sergeant returning from Flanders reports very few British troops remaining in Dunkirk on departure. He described nighttime fires brightening the scene and German bombers avoiding Dunkirk while shelling troops on the beach and rescue ships. He recounted a German pilot failing to sink a 20-man rowboat then firing tracer bullets and oil to set it ablaze. The informant said his unit withdrew via Armentieres.
