Berlin telegram reports June 2 that Berlin paused for a half holiday as Duchess Cecilia of Mecklenburg Schwerin, Princess of Wends, and her mother Grand Duchess Anastasia arrived. The Imperial family and state dignitaries greeted her with a grand procession and a signing of the marriage contract with Crown Prince Frederick William. The event featured choirs, guild emblems, artillery salutes, and a banquet at Bellevue.
Chicago progress from the federal meat packing probe reports indictments against thirty men as grand jury evidence gathers. Officials say at least ten more indictments will follow, reflecting the ongoing investigation into industry methods.

A delegation of twenty German Turners sails from Hamburg to New York aboard the Moltke to compete in the North American Turner band festival in Indianapolis. The group comprises top members from leading German Turner societies.
At a stock holders meeting, L. B. Tannehill was elected to fill the unexpired term of A. M. Robertson and W. C. Reid was elected to fill the unexpired term of Judge G A. Richardson, who had been chosen for one year.
Mrs. R. F. Barnett and family with friends depart Thursday for a Pacific Coast trip. Mrs. Barnett will visit Los Angeles for a month and be joined by Mr. Barnett, then travel to San Francisco and Portland for the Exposition. They plan to return around September first via Yellowstone Park and Denver.
