Voter purge risk in Chaves County over unreturned notices
More than 3 400 names may be purged from voter rolls if purge notices aren’t returned by June. Deputy Clerk Betty Miller says only 665 of 4 089 notices have been signed and returned. The board must determine nonvoters every two years and mail suspension notices. those failing to respond within 60 days lose registration and must re register to vote. The board also cancels for death, legal insanity, and felony convictions.
