New York July 27. Woodrow Wilson argues democracy has not yet saved the world from irrational revolutions. He says civilization must be redeemed spiritually and calls the Russian revolution the outstanding event of its kind, directed against capitalism and class discontent.
Clovis took both ends of a doubleheader from Roswell, 13 to 8 in the first game and 3 to 0 in the second. Clary went 4 for 4 with two doubles, driving in three runs in the finale, while Roswell heads to Amarillo for a four game set with the Gassers.
George Nilson, radical president of Suns Agricultural College, was removed as head by the Oklahoma board of agriculture acting as regents. Effective August 1st, J G Tyler, dean of the school of engineering, will serve temporarily. The action follows Governor Walton ousting two reconstruction league leaders from the board amid a broader shake-up in administration policy.

President Harding has returned to Seattle to announce findings from his Alaska inspection tour and to outline Alaska policy in a late speech. A collision occurred in fog when Transport Senderson hit the Destroyer Seeilin. no injuries and minor damage reported.
Chicago July 28 The Methodist Episcopal church ban on theatre attendance card playing and dancing will be lifted under plans to amalgamate the Northern and Southern church Rev E Robb Searing editor Northwestern Christian Advocate said the constituiton would allow dancers and dancing teachers to join the church The amalgamation is practically a certainty as a result of the Cleveland convention

The Roswell Retail Merchants association holds a special meeting at the Chamber of Commerce tonight at 7:30 PM. A large attendance is desired as several important matters will be taken up. Washington July 27 Department of justice agents investigated a reported plot to assassinate President Harding and found nothing to report. William J Burns chief of the Bureau of Investigation said the same time a plot to kill Attorney General Daugherty was also without foundation. The report that Phillip Kurinsky and Sophia Bushwick planned to trail Mr Harding and kill him with a revolver equipped with a silencer reached the bureau but there was no foundation.
In Austin on July 27 the state board of education moved over one hundred free text books not in the December contract list. Mandamus actions have been filed upholding twenty one of these texts, but the transfers do not affect the case.

Police Constable Robert Hutchings rushed to aid his sergeant attacked by forty railway workers. He fought the gang, knocked down twenty, and after an attacker kicked the wounded sergeant, Hutchings used his night-stick to continue the defense. He has been recommended for the King's medal.
