Sofia July 24 One hundred sixty bodies recovered from the two Bulgarian express crash between Sofia and Varna. It is believed totals will reach 200 dead and 300 wounded. Faulty signals blamed. No survivors from ten coaches.
Berlin July 26 The traffic blockade on the Ruhr by French and Belgian troops was lifted at midnight by Allied authorities. A severe food shortage followed, with provisions piled at the forbidden zone as entry required occupier taxation which Germans refused to pay. Germany and India.
