Lucent to Cut 15 000 to 20 000 Jobs Amid Loss
Lucent Technologies posted a 3.25 billion third quarter loss and plans 15 000 to 20 000 more job cuts. The move halves its workforce from January levels as it sells assets and spins off units to reduce costs. Lucent shares fell about 19 percent to 6.43 dollars amid a broader Dow drop.
