Roswell mourns the loss of Captain Jno W Poe 72 a longtime banker and lawman who died last night in Battle Creek Michigan of pneumonia. Poe helped found Roswell banks and the L F D stock farm, served as Lincoln county deputy sheriff with Pat Garrett near the Kid episode, and led Roswell’s water works project. He was a founder of New Mexico Military Institute and long had a major role in local business and civic life. His survivors include his wife and two brothers in Missouri.
