In Portales a preliminary hearing proceeded on the Tallmadge case attracting numerous attendees. Prosecutors outlined key evidence while defense lawyers pressed for dismissal or changes in venue as the trial approach loomed.
Roswell citizens traveled to Portales this morning for the preliminary hearing of B H Tallmadge on subornation of perjury before United States Commissioner W B Lindsay. The hearing will start after the southbound train arrives at about three o clock railroad time.
George Friedenbloom installs electric Vibro Massage machines in his two Roswell shops the Parlor at 214 Main and Up-to-Date across the street. The devices claim to stimulate skin and scalp circulation, sterilized implements, antiseptic cremes, and claim benefits for facial and scalp ailments including skin disorders headaches and insomnia.

Miss Virginia Flournoy is expected to return home today after a two week visit in Artesia.
J. W. Chisholm, longtime resident of Artesia, left Roswell this morning for Hobart in Indian Territory, where he will stay until September. The item promotes baths at Parlor Up-to-Date and Grand Central barber shops as best in the city.
Mrs W P Littlefield returned yesterday from Kenna where she has been visiting at the L F D D ranch. C T Dieus left this morning for Texico with workmen. O R Tanner and E J Mason were here from Hagerman today on business. Mrs M O Munson was here from Artesia shopping. A B Waskom of Hagerman was a business visitor in Roswell. D L Long deputy sheriff was here from Hagerman. Cornelius Rascoe came from Artesia to tend to his sister who is very ill and worse today.
District Deputy to arrive early next week to begin organizing the Roswell Elks lodge after receiving a telegram from A. B. Beeham. The message notes the deputy will leave Santa Fe Sunday and come to Roswell to coordinate the effort amid church and local labor ties.
G. F. Wagner arrives from Douglass Arizona Works at Slaughter ranch. Miss Susie Edmundson and Miss Sadie McPherson travel from Artesia this morning to stay indefinitely for the health of Mrs Edmundson.
U. S. Weather Bureau local report for Roswell New Mexico on July 18 shows max 90 min 57 mean 74 with no precipitation and light east wind. Forecasts for Roswell and vicinity call for generally fair conditions tonight and Wednesday with steady temperatures. statewide forecast notes local showers in the northeast portion and remaining steady temperatures.
In Walsh Minnesota an early morning blaze at the Depot hotel killed six occupants including Mrs. Hoffman and her infant, Robert Johnson, Gertrude Stensher, Rebecca Herman, and James Hunt. The blaze followed a gas tank explosion in the hotel illuminating plant. search of ruins ongoing for additional bodies.
July 18. Prince Philip of Coburg filed for divorce from Princess Louise eldest daughter of the King of Belgium. She eloped in 1897 with an Austrian cavalry lieutenant and was later confined in an asylum. A Paris medical commission recently declared her sane.
The case against Howard Ringo charged with forging checks totaling about $10 was scheduled to be heard this morning before Justice Bailey but was dismissed without a trial. Ringo is no longer accused.
Glenn Flynn of Dexter was en route to Amarillo for a fifteen day visit with friends. H C Elerick arrived from Dexter for a short stay with relatives, while W D Amis came from Hager man for a similar visit.
