Guidelines for lawyers Officials plan ad hearings

A New Mexico Bar Association task force with state judicial officials will begin hearings to draft rules on lawyers advertising fees for routine services. The group will meet at either the Bar Association Center in Albuquerque or the Supreme Court in Santa Fe. Mescalero Tribe seeks injunction over state hunting rules

The Mescalero Apache Tribe asks U S federal court to bar New Mexico Game and Fish from enforcing state hunting and fishing rules on the Mescalero Reservation near Ruidoso. Judge H Vearle Payne plans to rule on a preliminary injunction next week. The filing argues state enforcement imperils tribal sovereignty while elk and antelope remain on tribal land and fish are stocked by the tribe and a federal agency.

Night-time emergency landing in Vinita by Tulsa pilot

Joseph Ayala, 23, from Tulsa, made an emergency landing on a Vinita street after losing radio contact and low fuel on a St Louis to Tulsa flight. He greeted John Webb and his wife, stayed at a motel, then resumed flight Sunday as deputies closed the street for a makeshift runway.
