Crises across New Mexico weather the livestock report shows the worst range conditions since 1933 with June rainfall scant and statewide drought worsening. Precipitation for June 1934 at .55 inch equals about one third normal, water shortages grow, and cattle, sheep, and calf crops face heavy declines and possible deaths. Government buying and condemnation programs begin as feed and stock water run short across low to high altitudes.
A July 5 riot at Steuart and Mission streets left three dead including H. Sperry, felled by police fire and clubs. Gov Merriam mobilized the California National Guard as 70 090 commuters faced disruption on Market Street and light artillery units prepared on Rincon Hill.
The District of Columbia Court of Appeals reversed a lower court and ruled the Senate could not sentence William P. MacCracken to ten days for contempt related to air mail inquiry. Brittin served a similar term. MacCracken’s counsel argued the Senate overstepped its authority. The ruling states legislative bodies cannot purport to punish contempt without proper judicial process.

The new board includes G A Lynch Robert W Lea George L Berry A R Glancy and George Buckley while Johnson handles major decisions under the law. Plans include a single code for 450 small industries and clarifications on the 15 percent tolerance for open price codes.
Inez Garcia aged eighty five years died at his home 910 West Sleventh street Roswell on Saturday night at 9:30. He came to Roswell in 1864 at age fifteen and was known by pioneer residents. He is survived by his wife and four sons Flavio Antonio Ezekiel of Arabella New Mexico and Miguel of Phoenix Arizona. Body taken to Arabella for services and burial. Talmage Mortuary in charge.

New York July 9 AP Shelving the pennant race strife All star teams of the American and National Leagues meet tomorrow at the Polo Grounds at 12 30 pm EST NBC and CBS will relay the event The glamour show gathers headline names and daily stat stars Carl Hubbell faces a lineup headed by Gehringer Manush Ruth Gehrig Higgins Simmons Cronin and Dickey Lefty Gomez opposes the AL ace lineup including Frisch Traynor Medwick and Chuck Klein.
The Roswell Rifle Club posted 1920 against Lassen Rifle Club of Susanville, Colorado. Frank Smith shot 397 of 400, with teammates Joe Massey 389 Ed S Raymond 888 James M H Callender 386 Tode Brenneman 380 and H E Samson 377 not making the team. Lassen’s score was not received.
Raymond Moley, magazine editor and former assistant secretary of state, testifies before a House committee on un American activities. He says Nazi propaganda mat ters in the United States constitute a menace, citing four Today magazine articles and evidence of Stahlhelm drill activities in New York City. Moley confirms documents used as the basis for his statements are verified and in possession.
Chaves County Grand Jury reported findings after a two day session. It noted irregularities in handling the recent Roswell city election but found no wilful corruption. Six true bills and eight no bills were returned. several indicted and in jail. The jury examined 76 witnesses and criticized registration and election board practices.

Chapman with Interior Department experts and stockmen invited to attend. Subsequent sessions span Boise Casper Billings Casper Glenwood Springs as dates are set.
