Chaves County residents vote Feb 4 on a $3 per $1 000 mill levy to fund ENMU ROswell programs. Teen Driver Crashes Poles, Knocks Out Power for Hundreds
A 17 year old drove into a utility pole on East Country Club Road and North Garden Avenue, snapping the pole and triggering a power outage affecting nearly 1,000 homes. The crash at 12:20 a.m. forced road closures and detours as Xcel Energy repaired lines. One juvenile passenger sustained minor injuries. another was treated at the scene and later hospitalized. The driver was cited for careless driving and accident involving personal injury.
