Buyers Disagree At Hereford Show In Southeastern NM
Buyers clashed with judges at the Southeastern New Mexico Hereford Association sale on Friday. Top bull price was 810 dollars for R A Boyd of Carlsbad junior bull calf, grand champion bull 600 dollars from Ellis Haulik and Son, Milnerland. Grand champion female 165 dollars from Olin C Ainsworth Milneland. Two other females sold for 300 dollars. Despite drought the sale was deemed very successful with 61 bulls average 296 totaling 18 080 and eight females averaging 192 totaling 1 535.

Corona Rancher Gored by Deer Fatal Rancher Dies After Deer Incident
Adolph Sultemeier, 65, a Corona rancher, was gored to death when trying to free a deer from a fence. He was found by family with leg wounds and bled to death. Officers say he cut the fence wire to free the tangled animal, which likely charged in fright.

Dexter Hagerman farmers plan co op feed mill and lots
About 30 men from the Dexter Hagerman area met last fall to organize a grassroots Co op Feed Mill and feed lots for cattle and sheep. Ed Smith of Hagerman named temporary chairman for the organizing committee. The venture requires an initial $200 common stock investment and aims to aid drought stricken ranchers and farmers by providing livestock feeding facilities locally. The mill location is expected in the Dexter Hagerman area with plans to proceed. See DEXTER Page 22.
